Have you started packing your hospital bag?

If not, don't panic! Here are my top 10 items you need to have in your hospital bag. It is best to pack these early and have them set to the side so that when you are in labor you or your partner are not fumbling around to find your items and pack.

Top 10 Items:

1. Phone Charger:

You’re going to want a phone charger with a long cord on it. The last thing you want is to have your phone die and not be able to take all those pictures of your sweet newborn. If your using your phone while in labor be sure to have your music or hypnosis tracks downloaded and ready to go on you and your partners phone to be sure there are no hiccups!

2. Loose Fitting Pants:

After having a baby, the last thing you want to slip into are tight fitting pants of any kind. Make sure to pack a pair of loose-fitting pants with an elastic waistband. (C-Section Mama's: elastic waistband is essential and will make a huge difference)

3. Nursing Bra/ Nursing Tank:

As you and baby are learning to breastfeed and your milk begins to come in, it will be especially helpful to have a nursing bra and/or a nursing tank top.

4. Partners Bag:

This doesn't go into your bag necessarily; however, it is important that your partner has a bag with clothes and snacks packed. Your partner will want to have these ready to go so they won't have to leave you during labor or after baby arrives.

5. Hair-ties and Headband:

Let's be honest here... labor is hard work and chances are you’re going to want your hair out of your face. Grab a couple hair ties and a headband to keep your sweaty hair out of your face.

6. Insurance Cards:

Be sure to pack your insurance cards in your hospital bag in the case you haven't pre-registered at your hospital.

7. Baby Onsie/ Sleeper:

Pack a onesie or a sleeper for your newborn. You may even want to throw in a couple outfits for baby depending how long you will be staying for. Don't forget that sweet going home outfit to put baby in.

8. Nursing Pillow:

If you are planning on breastfeeding, bring your nursing pillow so that you can get use to using it and get some tips from the staff on how to use the pillow best!

9. Toothbrush/ Toothpaste:

Although the hospitals probably have one, they can give you, it's always best to just have this packed. You don't want bad breath when people are coming to see you and meet your new babe.

10. Robe or Sweater:

While in labor and even after you've had baby, you'll be up walking around. Those hospital gowns to cover much of your backside. Unless your wanting to give a show, find a sweater or bring a robe to throw over your gown!
